Bear & Marissa Bronaugh's Story

When we came home to Texas from Alaska, Bear and I began the search for a church to call “home” for our family. The moment we walked out of City Hope for the first time in the spring of 2021, he and I had a very specific conversation about how it “felt” different. We could feel love radiating in the atmosphere. The Lord’s presence was in THAT house! It was something WE wanted to be a part of and something we wanted for our kids! We were struggling as a couple much like many seasons in our life up to that point. We were searching for some peace. We were longing for Hope, and we just wanted to be closer to God. Since finding City Hope and receiving the messages Pastor Ben has delivered each week, it has healed all of us in our house, little by little, and for that, I am so thankful.

The pain of the last twenty years’ tragedies is slowly lifting away, and we can finally see a little bit clearer. City Hope and Pastor Ben have taught us, shown us, and led us to believe even deeper about our loving Heavenly Father. We are now strong together in the Lord. Where we had a shaky footing through the years, our City Hope family is helping us solidify our foundation on the rock. We know we had the right ingredients, our love for God and each other, and the fight in us to hold on, but City Hope gave us the Hope we needed. We are no longer just fighting to hang on; we are thriving as a family and we can wholeheartedly say we are the best we’ve ever been in twenty years, in our marriage, in our household, and in our life because of what we’ve learned and how we’ve grown in our short time at City Hope!

When I first came to City Hope, it was the last week in May of 2023. I was discouraged, disappointed, and simply done with the thought of becoming involved in a church. They showed me so much Grace and Mercy; it shocked me for weeks.

Dylan attended the Freedom Conference. I attended as an intercessor. We both left Saturday night charged up, different, and on fire. We would lay awake talking about our experience, about how God had moved in our lives in those two days. Something was different.
